THE CURCH SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SAINT MEDARD :
As early as the end of the 13th century, Saint Médard church is mentioned: rebuilt around 1525, then in 1622 by Vincent de Paul, then parish priest (from May 1612 to 1625), it was completed in 1630.
The church is shaped like a Latin cross. Its façade features a massive tower built on a square plan. At the base of this tower is a wide, blind, semi-circular bay, at the bottom of which opens the main door. The church comprises a single nave.
Numerous repairs were carried out in the 19th century. It is the first listed historic monument in Clichy, and was recently renovated.
PARC CLICHY-BATIGNOLLES - MARTIN-LUTHER-KING :
It is part of the Clichy Batignolles [fr] urban development project, which started in 2001, transforming 54 hectares (130 acres) of land formerly occupied by freight yards for the French railway company SNCF. The name of the park is derived from: proximity to the site of a nineteenth century Porte de Clichy, a gate in Paris' Thiers wall that opened to the commune of Clichy, Hauts-de-Seine; proximity to the former SNCF Batignolles station; and a tribute to the legacy of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Within the larger Clichy Batignolles project, the Parc Clichy-Batignolles - Martin Luther King will eventually cover 10.8 hectares (27 acres), of which 6.5 hectares (16 acres) had been opened to the public by 2014. When finished (scheduled for around 2015), it will be the largest green space in the 17th arrondissement, as well as the 8th largest park in Paris.
PARC ROGER SALENGRO :
This romantic park, opened to the public in 1897, features two ponds and is adorned with statues, making it an attractive place for strolling. One of the park's curiosities is a pavilion built for the Republican Guard. Originally named Parc Denain, the site was renamed Roger Salengro in 1937 in tribute to the minister in Léon Blum's government.
Part of the land was used to build what is now the Maison des Associations, while most of it was transformed into a public garden in 1897. .
The park, enlarged to 24,000 m², was inaugurated in 1910.
It was named "Denain" after the mother of Mme Léo-Delibes, a member of the Comédie française (1826-1892). In 1937, Roger Salengro was honored.
LAFAYETTES GALLERY :
A legendary department store,
A visit to Paris would not be complete without a visit to the historic Galeries Lafayette Haussmann flagship, majestically spread over three buildings. The main store, with its Art Nouveau decor, is well worth a visit. Look up and admire the extraordinary 43 m-high dome, a Galeries Lafayette icon. The neo-Byzantine stained-glass windows project a myriad of multicolored lights. The banister of the monumental triple staircase, inspired by the Paris Opera, is by Louis Majorelle. These marvels dazzle us as we enter this Parisian fashion theater, open 7 days a week!
The best of fashion, luxury and well-being.
Pure bliss !
MONTMARTRE :
Montmartre is a district of authentic charm, famous for the Sacré-Coeur basilica and its magnificent view over Paris. To reach the top of the hill, take the funicular railway, which costs the same as a metro ticket. More athletic visitors can climb the 222 steps through Square Louise Michel. After a visit to the Basilica, visitors embark on a historic stroll along the Butte Montmartre: the Place du Tertre and its famous caricaturists, the Espace Dalí, the Montmartre vineyards, the Lapin Agile cabaret, the Musée Montmartre... The stroll continues back down to the Moulin Rouge, a historic cabaret with wild, world-famous evenings. Along the way, visitors can enjoy the creative, trendy shop windows of Rue des Abbesses and Rue Tardieu, the shops of Rue Lepic, the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Rue de Steinkerque, the sex-shop district of Pigalle and the Montmartre cemetery. A few minutes' walk from the Moulin Rouge, in SoPi (South Pigalle), the salon de thé in the garden of the Musée de la Vie Romantique is ideal for a gourmet break.
